Child Welfare and Protection

As of April 2016 it is a criminal offence for a person acting on behalf of the GAA or for the GAA as an association to permit any person to commence working with children (minor = any person under the age of 18) on behalf of the association without first obtaining a vetting disclosure in respect to the role in which they have been recruited.

With the new e-vetting or vetting online system the applicant themselves can provide Ulster GAA with the required information, it is a quick and simple system and usually takes no more than 3 weeks to process.

It is important within the club that ALL persons holding a position (including committee) obtain Garda Vetting.
If you are unsure as to weather you have vetting clearance or require assistance completing the online process, please contact the club child protection officer Helena McBride on (086) 390 7731.
